Questions and Answers
Czech Academy of Financial Planning
For experienced financial professionals, regardless of age, focus or affiliation, who want to strengthen and certify their financial planning skills.
No such cooperation is required; the programme is open to all, regardless of where or for whom they work. We welcome colleagues from all companies in the market.
It is the only practically oriented programme on the Czech market. All other certifications and courses are either very theoretical or primarily focused on business skills. Our goal is different: to offer a certification that focuses on what differentiates a salesperson from an advisor - the ability to build a superior financial plan. The financial planner today is a professional, often employing other in-house analysts and experts. So they don't have to memorize the definition of what a bond is and hone the ability to calculate compound interest on a checking account when they wake up at night. And that's what we base the program on.
Congratulations. Once you have successfully logged in, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on all the necessary next steps.
If there is still a transitional period for obtaining a given statutory examination (typically 24 months from the effective date of the law), we will also accept transitional methods of proving professional qualifications (affidavit, internal examination of your company) during this period.
Sample test questions are published in the section documents. It contains only the questions, not the answer options. We do not publish case studies for the oral part.
Like other professional degrees, the MFP requires the graduate to continuously maintain proficiency. There are no explicit requirements in this regard, and we will consider introducing them after evaluating the programme in due course.
It is not an academic degree within the meaning of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education, which can only be awarded by accredited universities. However, it is a prestigious professional certification, which can be most closely likened to the well-known MBA (Master of Business Administration) or MPA (Master of Public Administration). Both of these degrees are provided by the College of Finance and Administration (CFA), as a co-founder of the project, and thus graduates of the MFA can expect the same quality of education, certification and lecturing team.

At the time of application, the candidate must prove that he/she has passed the legally required (accredited) examinations in the following areas:
- consumer housing loan (including combined exam)
- dealing with a client in the context of the provision of investment services relating only to investment instruments referred to in Article 29(3) of the Act
- supplementary pension savings
- professional groups of life insurance and non-life insurance
Applicants must also demonstrate at least one year of experience in financial advisory or planning.
For participation in the preparatory course, the above requirements are only recommended but not mandatory.
As regards the (accredited) examinations required by legislation, the necessary document is a certificate issued by an accredited institution. As regards experience, a contract with the institution for the performance of activities that demonstrably involve the provision of financial advice or financial planning (the contract must make this clear, e.g. from the job description or activity). This experience, and therefore the contractual relationship, must have lasted for at least six months continuously before the application is submitted. The exact procedure for providing the documents will be given to the applicant at the time of application and well in advance of the examination; they will normally be required to be sent in the form of a scan before the examination itself.
For individual login use the website www.cafp.cz (login button). For group registration, please discuss with your parent company, who will contact the CAFP leadership directly. A quantity discount may be available for group dates.
Exam dates are announced regularly once a month. The date for the preparatory course is once every 2 months.
The actual exam will have a written part in the form of a test (typically morning classes) and an oral part in the form of a case study defense (afternoon classes). It is therefore advisable to set aside a full working day to complete it.
If you are unsuccessful at the exam date, you can reapply for a new one after 60 calendar days at the earliest. Please note that you will also need to pay the full exam fee again. Each candidate may take the exam a maximum of three times.
No, it's not. The essence of the oral part of the exam is the defence of a case study, the solution of which the student prepares personally before the actual examination (so-called "on the sweat").
The difficulty of the exam will correspond to the English title of master. This should be taken into account.
The difficulty of the exam will be set so that experienced advisers with many years of day-to-day experience in developing financial plans and knowledge of the mandatory exams required by the legislation will overwhelmingly succeed without having to take the course. Less senior advisors will have significant difficulty passing the exam without taking the course and can only be recommended.
Not by default. However, if there is such a request, please contact the CAFP leadership and we will try to find a solution (contact us).
Ceremonial presentation of a certificate in the form of a diploma guaranteed by both the VŠFS and the ČASF and registration in the database of graduates. And of course a new impetus for your career.
In general terms, yes, but the specific circumstances should always be checked with the VŠFS and the HR department of the company in question.
The price for the examination term for one candidate is CZK 5.100 + VAT.
The price for the preparatory course for one participant will be CZK 12.000 + VAT. We do not consider staggering the payment, but if there is a demand from a larger number of applicants, this decision may change.
No, the result of the written part is final and to participate in the oral examination you must pass it successfully, i.e. achieve the score set out in the Study and Examination Regulations. However, in the event that you 'pass' the oral part, the exam board will have an evaluation of your test and will be able to direct additional questions to those modules (according to the syllabus) where your result was the weakest.
